The three Blattwerk (foliage) motifs on the lid and body of the piece are hallmarked by the silversmith, identified by the letters IR in an oval. This hallmark belongs to a member of the Rauchwolff family who, between 1614 and 1669, supplied numerous small decorative elements of this type to various local and foreign silversmiths.
